IndiaSkills 2025-26 will hold its first dedicated North East Regional Competition from 19 to 22 January 2026 at Gauhati University, Assam. The event brings together skilled youth from all eight North Eastern States and marks an important expansion of India’s national skilling framework. The competition will be inaugurated on 19 January 2026 and will serve as a pathway for winners to advance to the national stage.
Significance of the Competition
The North East Regional Competition is the first IndiaSkills regional event organised exclusively for the North Eastern Region. It reflects a stronger focus on regional inclusion in India’s skilling ecosystem. The initiative aims to identify talent, improve access to competitive platforms, and support youth from geographically diverse areas.
Participation and Skill Categories
- Participants from all eight North Eastern States will compete.
- The competition will cover 26 skill categories.
- It will provide a national platform for vocational excellence.
- Winners will move to the next stage of IndiaSkills Competition 2025-26.
IndiaSkills Framework
IndiaSkills is India’s premier national skill competition framework. It is designed to benchmark vocational talent against global standards and create a progression path from grassroots participation to the WorldSkills Competition. The 2025-26 cycle has recorded 3.65 lakh registrations from 35 States and Union Territories across 63 skill categories through the Skill India Digital Hub.
Objectives and Institutional Support
The competition has been designed to reduce geographic and logistical barriers for participation. It also aims to strengthen regional skill ecosystems and align youth capabilities with industry demand and national priorities. The National Skill Development Corporation is acting as the knowledge partner and implementing agency for the competition.
