India and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have reiterated their commitment to regional stability, resilient supply chains and stronger economic ties amid continuing geopolitical uncertainty in West Asia. The discussion took place during a virtual meeting between Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and GCC Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi. Both sides reviewed regional developments and the need to protect trade and connectivity from disruption.
Ceasefire and Regional Stability
India welcomed the recently announced ceasefire in the region and expressed hope that it would contribute to lasting peace and stability. India restated its long-standing position that disputes should be resolved through dialogue and mutual understanding. The GCC was also recognised as an important unifying force in West Asia.
People-to-People and Economic Ties
The interaction brought into light the deep-rooted people-to-people links between India and GCC countries. These ties were described as the foundation of strong commercial and economic relations. India and the GCC have cooperation in trade, energy, investment, and labour mobility, making the partnership strategically important for both sides.
Supply Chain Resilience
India assured support to GCC countries in addressing supply chain challenges, especially for essential commodities such as food items. The two sides discussed the need for stronger logistics networks and alternative trade routes to maintain continuity in supplies. They stressed that coordinated action is necessary to ensure smooth and predictable trade flows during periods of regional disruption.
Future of India-GCC Partnership
Both sides concluded with a commitment to deepen the India-GCC economic partnership through continued cooperation and mutual support. The focus will remain on stability, trade resilience, and practical economic engagement in a volatile regional environment.
